‘Israel’ issued 219 administrative detention orders against Palestinians in October, says watchdog

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israeli occupation authorities issued about 219 administrative detention orders against Palestinians in October, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ Affairs said today.

In October alone, the Commission said, Israeli occupation authorities issued over 219 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, including 84 new orders and 135 renewal orders.

The Commission noted that there are currently about 850 administrative detainees held in Israel’s Ofer and Al-Naqab prisons, including two female detainees held in Israel’s Damon prison.

The Commission said the occupation authorities have disavowed agreements with Palestinian administrative detainees which states to release them, especially the detainees who went through hunger strike for days in protest against their unfair administrative detention by ‘Israel’ without charge or trial.

According to Palestinian prisoner’s advocacy groups, since March 2002, the number of Palestinians in administrative detention has never fallen below 100. In 2015 alone, ‘Israel’ issued 1248 administrative detention orders.

In 2020, ‘Israel’ issued 1,114 administrative detention orders while it issued 1,595 administrative detention orders against the Palestinians in 2021.
