‘Israel’ issued 107 administrative detention orders in June
Ramallah (QNN)- The committee of Palestinian prisoners and former prisoners affairs reported on Thursday that the Israeli authorities issued 107 administrative detention orders during current June only.
The committee mentioned in its report that the detention orders, which partially have been renewed, were issued for periods between 2-6 renewable months.
The report also stated that 28 orders were issued against prisoners from Ramallah, 21 against prisoners from Bethlehem, 5 against those from Tulkarem, 3 against those from Tubas, and 26 against prisoners from Hebron.
The orders have also targeted prisoners from occupied Jerusalem and Jericho in addition to 14 prisoners from Jenin, 3 from Salfit, one from Qalqilya, and 4 from Nablus.
The report mentioned that 57 prisoners will be imprisoned under administrative detention for 4 months, 14 others will be detained for 3 months, 23 prisoners will be detained for 6 months, ten prisoners will be detained for 5 months, and three others will be detained for 2 months.
Administrative detention is incarceration without trial or charge, alleging that a person plans to commit a future offense. It has no time limit, and the evidence on which it is based is not disclosed. Israel has been employing this measure extensively and routinely, according to B’Tselem, and has used it to hold thousands of Palestinians for lengthy periods of time.
