Aljazeera quoted a source from the Red Crescent as stating that Zawahreh had been in a coma for months. His release was previously delayed.
Last Saturday, a Red Crescent ambulance crew went to Hadassah Ein Kerem to receive Zawahreh. However, the handover was canceled after Israel delayed releasing the seventh batch of detainees under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The delay was added to a series of Israeli violations of the agreement.
Today, Israel announced the delay of releasing 24 Palestinian hostages from detention.
