‘Israel’ hands over body of Palestinian killed by Israeli settler about two months ago

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israeli occupation handed over on Friday the body of slain Palestinian teenager Karam Abh Salman who was fatally shot by an Israeli settler near an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank in January, and his body was withheld since his killing.

On Friday afternoon, Abu Salman’s body was handed over by the Israeli occupation forces to the Civil Affairs Authority, which liaisons with ‘Israel’, and he was moved later to the Rafidia Hospital in Nablus.

On January 29, Karam, an 18-year-old resident of Qusin village near the city of Nablus, was shot and killed by an armed Israeli settler near the colonial Israeli settlement of Kedumim, illegally built on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank city of Qalqilya.

Israeli occupation authorities’ practice of confiscating and withholding Palestinian bodies is a violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, which include absolute prohibitions on cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment, as well as stipulate that parties of an armed conflict must bury the deceased in an honorable way, rights groups have said.

For families, the practice amounts to collective punishment in violation of international humanitarian law.

Israeli occupation is withholding the corpses of 370 Palestinians killed in action since 1967 who are buried at the “numbers cemetery,” including 11 prisoners who died in prisons.
