Israel Hands Over Bodies of 50 Palestinians Showing Signs of Torture
Gaza (QNN)- The Israeli army has handed over the bodies of 50 Palestinian victims it had held since the start of its genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023. Medical sources said the bodies showed clear signs of torture and abuse.
The latest handover raises the total number of bodies returned by Israel through the Red Cross to 245 since the ceasefire agreement took effect on October 10. All bodies showed signs of torture.
The Health Ministry announced that 41 unidentified bodies of Palestinian detainees will be buried in a mass grave as part of the ongoing exchange process.
Earlier this month, 54 Palestinian bodies were buried in Gaza after being held by Israel. Their identities remain unknown because Israel refused to provide official name lists.
Authorities give families five days to identify their relatives. If identification fails, often due to severe facial disfigurement caused by torture, the bodies are buried in numbered graves.
The Israeli war of annihilation on Gaza has killed 68,519 Palestinians and injured 170,382 others. Most of the victims are children and women.
The genocide has also destroyed 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, leaving cities in ruins. The United Nations estimates the cost of rebuilding the enclave at around $70 billion.
According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Thursday, the army said the death toll of around 71,000 killed in Gaza is largely correct, adding that it did not include those missing and buried under the rubble.
On Thursday, Israeli media reported that Israeli military sources recommended reducing the volume of humanitarian aid trucks entering Gaza from 600 to around 200 per day, claiming evaluations show that the Palestinian enclave only requires 200 trucks per day.
