Israel Executes Missing Medics in Rafah and Destroys Ambulances
Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces executed nine missing Palestinian medics from the Red Crescent and Civil Defense in Rafah, buried them, and destroyed their ambulances, the Palestinian Civil Defense confirmed on Thursday.
The medics had been missing for five days after Israeli forces advanced into western Rafah. Their fate remained unknown until rescue teams, coordinated with the Red Cross, entered the area. They discovered that Israeli troops had executed the missing medics and buried them near the barracks. The soldiers also destroyed all Palestinian Red Crescent and Civil Defense ambulances at the site.
The Palestinian Red Crescent had reported the medics missing for days. On Monday, the organization lost contact with four ambulances during a rescue mission in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood. Israeli forces attacked the vehicles and later surrounded the area, cutting off all communication amidst reports of mass field executions in the area.
The Red Crescent expressed deep concern for its teams’ safety and held Israel fully responsible. It called for urgent international intervention to allow rescue crews into Tel Sultan to locate the missing medics. However, all efforts by international organizations failed due to Israeli restrictions.
Since the genocide began, Israel has killed 19 Palestinian medics while they carried out humanitarian work. The ongoing assault on Gaza, supported by the U.S. and Europe, has caused over 164,000 Palestinian casualties, including thousands of missing persons. Most victims are women and children.
