Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Israeli officials have rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that a Gaza ceasefire could happen as early as next week, reported Yedioth Ahronoth. Officials called his remarks “wishful thinking” and said no breakthrough has occurred. Trump said Friday at the White House that a deal might soon be reached to end the Israeli genocide. But Israeli sources told Yedioth Ahronoth they were surprised by his statement and had not been informed of any real progress. “Nothing has changed,” said a senior Israeli official involved in the talks. Benjamin Netanyahu remains firm. He refuses to stop the genocide or withdraw the army from Gaza. He continues to offer only short pauses to release some Israeli prisoners before resuming full attacks. Israeli media reported that officials in occupied Jerusalem are confused by Trump’s optimism. One official called it an attempt to “ride the momentum” after the Israel-Iran war to score a diplomatic win. But they insisted that no substantial progress had been made. Meanwhile, reports from Newsweek suggest that Trump is actively pressuring Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire. A source close to the talks said Trump wants a full release of Israeli Prisoners and a permanent ceasefire, not just a temporary pause. Israeli state broadcaster KAN reported that the core disagreement between Israel and Hamas still centers on ending the genocidal war entirely. Israel continues to insist on keeping military pressure, while Hamas demands a complete and permanent ceasefire.
