‘Israel’ hands over body of Sami Abu Diak to Jordan
Amman (QNN)- The body of Sami Abu Diak, who died in Israeli jails last month due to medical negligence, arrived in Jordan on Thursday.
Spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the body of Abu Diak was received by the kingdom through King Hussein Bridge border crossing. His family are due to bid him a farewell and bury him in Jordan.
The Chairman of the Commission of Prisoners Affairs, Qadri Abu-Baker, confirmed that the Israeli authorities handed over Abu Diak’s body. He said the commission had demanded the release of the body many times but the Israelis refused to do so.
Sami Abu Diak’s uncle, Ragheb Abu Diak, said that Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs told Abu Diak’s parents that the body is at King Hussein Medical Center in Amman.
Sami Abu Diak died last week in an Israeli jail due to the Israeli policy of medical negligence. He had been diagnosed with cancer four years ago as a result of an Israeli medical error at Hadasah hospital. He was then denied medial treatment.
