Israel Cuts Off Northern Gaza from Gaza City Amid Escalating Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli forces have effectively severed northern Gaza from Gaza City, deploying heavy machinery and drone surveillance, according to Al Jazeera. The isolation comes as the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate.
The Israeli military has erected dirt barricades on main roads between Gaza City and the northern region, while also destroying dozens of homes in Jabalia refugee camp using explosive-laden robots. This development comes amid the eighth consecutive day of Israel’s ground assault in northern Gaza, which has triggered widespread devastation and severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
Munir Al-Bursh, Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, urgently called on international organizations to protect medical staff operating in northern Gaza. Al-Bursh described the conditions in hospitals in the region as “catastrophic,” noting that all primary healthcare centers have been closed by the Israeli military, leaving entire families without access to water, food, or medicine.
Despite the dire circumstances, medical teams in Gaza have refused Israeli orders to evacuate hospitals.
Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, highlighted the critical fuel shortages in Gaza’s northern hospitals. He stated that while a limited amount of fuel was delivered on Saturday, it is only sufficient to power the three main hospitals in the northern governorate for a few days. The hospitals are already under immense pressure, dealing with a constant influx of casualties due to ongoing Israeli air and ground genocidal attacks.
Israeli forces have tightened the blockade on northern Gaza, preventing essential supplies, including food and medical aid, from reaching tens of thousands of families trapped in areas like Jabalia and Beit Hanoun. The sources indicated that the Israeli military continues to send reinforcements to northern Gaza, where many bodies remain uncollected due to the relentless targeting of medical crews and ambulances.
Abu Safiya confirmed that approximately 20,000 liters of fuel had entered northern Gaza, but this amount is insufficient to sustain hospital operations for more than 10 days at Kamal Adwan Hospital and just five days at the two other hospitals. This limited fuel supply arrived after the Israeli military blocked multiple attempts to deliver fuel to the besieged area.
On Thursday, the Government Media Office warned that healthcare services in northern Gaza could collapse entirely if fuel supplies are not restored. Ambulances and civil defense vehicles are already stretched thin, with the ground offensive and fuel shortages severely hampering their ability to respond to emergencies.
The Israeli military’s ground operation in northern Gaza, which began on October 6, aims to depopulate areas such as Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, and Jabalia refugee camp.
Despite the ongoing bloodshed, Israel continues its military campaign in defiance of a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and orders from the International Court of Justice demanding urgent measures to halt the genocide and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The Israeli offensive, which has garnered significant US backing, has claimed the lives of over 41,000 Palestinians, leaving more than 10,000 missing and tens of thousands injured. Entire neighborhoods lie in ruins, and the blockade has created famine-like conditions, killing scores of children and elderly citizens.
