Israel Continues to Forcibly Disappear Thousands Abducted from Gaza: PPS

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reported that Israel continues to forcibly disappear thousands of Palestinians abducted from Gaza during the ongoing genocide.

As of early August, the Israeli Prison Service has reported holding 2,378 Gaza detainees classified as “unlawful combatants” who are held without trial or charge, the PPS said in a statement, marking the international day of the victims of enforced disappearance.

This figure does not include Gaza detainees held in army camps. Their number last August was 1,584.

At least 46 of the Gaza detainees have died in prison, out of a total of 77 killed since the start of the war on the enclave, based only on identified cases amid reports of torture and medical negligence.

The PPS called the enforced disappearances “one of the most defining features of the close to two years of genocide” and said they serve as a “primary cover for widespread torture against Palestinian detainees arrested from Gaza”.

It said the Israeli judiciary and its Supreme Court have been “a key tool in entrenching crimes against Palestinians”.
