Israel Continues Blocking Aid to Northern Gaza Amid Food Aid Deception and Targeting of Distribution Centers
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Gaza Government Media Office has issued a scathing statement, denouncing the Israeli army for misleading the international community by lying about delivering food aid to northern Gaza while simultaneously intensifying a complete blockade on the area and bombarding aid distribution centers. According to the statement, the 10-day onslaught has claimed the lives of over 342 Palestinians, with hundreds more wounded.
Israeli Claims vs. Reality on the Ground
The Israeli army announced it had transferred 30 trucks loaded with flour and food supplies into northern Gaza through the Erez crossing, allegedly under the World Food Programme’s direction. However, the Gaza government’s media office dismissed this as a public relations stunt, emphasizing that Israel continues its total siege on Gaza and northern provinces. They highlighted that for the last 170 days, Israel has imposed a near-total blockade, cutting off vital humanitarian access.
The statement condemned Israeli actions as a continuation of ethnic cleansing, stating that Israel is carrying out mass destruction of homes, infrastructure, hospitals, schools, and mosques, calling it “the largest and most dangerous American-Israeli occupation plan of the 21st century.” The office stated that Israeli is committing a genocide, as neighborhoods in northern Gaza, particularly Jabalia, are being wiped out.
Humanitarian Crisis and UN Warnings
On Monday, the Israeli military shelled a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) food distribution center in Jabalia, killing at least 10 civilians, mostly women and the elderly, and injuring dozens more. Medical sources report that rescue teams are unable to reach many of the injured and dead due to the ongoing Israeli blockade around the refugee camp.
For ten days, northern Gaza has been without food, water, or fuel, as Israeli forces intensify their offensive to clear the area of residents. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported that over 400,000 Palestinians face starvation and dehydration in northern Gaza, trapped without any aid for weeks. The monitor condemned Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war, stating that it is committing one of the largest-scale massacres by hunger in recent memory.
The UN and human rights organizations have repeatedly called for immediate intervention to prevent further civilian deaths. US Vice President Kamala Harris recently expressed ‘concern’ over the situation, stating, “Israel must do more to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza urgently.”
International bodies and organizations, including the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, are urging the global community to take decisive action. They stress the need for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian access to northern Gaza, and accountability for those responsible for ongoing war crimes.
