Israel claims airstrike on Beirut targeted Senior Hezbollah official, reports confirm children targeted

Beirut (Quds News Network)– An Israeli airstrike hit the southern suburbs of Beirut early this morning, with Israeli authorities claiming the operation targeted senior Hezbollah official Ibrahim Aqil, Hezbollah’s Head of Operations. However, reports from local sources confirm that children were among those killed in the attack.
The Israeli military stated that the airstrike was a “precise” operation in Beirut, adding that there were no immediate changes to home front directives. The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that an Israeli F-35 fighter jet fired two missiles at an apartment in the Jamous area of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Local sources said one of the missiles struck the Qaim Complex, a religious site in the same area. While Israeli media, including Channel 12, reported that the attack was aimed at a senior Hezbollah military official, Lebanese sources have not yet confirmed this claim.
Barak Ravid, an Israeli journalist, cited an Israeli official who confirmed that a high-ranking Hezbollah figure was the intended target of the strike.
However, the NNA reported that five children were killed in the airstrike, further deepening the humanitarian crisis among civilians. Videos circulated by activists on social media showed the devastation at the scene.
