Israel assassinates Hamas leader in Lebanon
Sidon (Quds News Network)- Israel has assassinated Samer Al-Haj, a senior leader in Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades, in a targeted airstrike on his vehicle in Sidon, southern Lebanon, escalating the already tensed situation in the region. Al-Haj, who used to live in Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, was killed earlier today in what Hamas has condemned as a cowardly act of aggression.
In an official statement, Hamas mourned the loss of Al-Haj, confirming that he was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Sidon. The Israeli military also confirmed the assassination.
The assassination has sparked outrage and condemnation within Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp. His vehicle was targeted by two missiles fired from a drone at the entrance of the camp, shortly after he left a meeting inside.
In response to the assassination, a protest march erupted in Ain al-Hilweh, with dozens of residents expressing their anger and denouncing the ongoing Israeli aggression. The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of Hamas and condemned Israel’s continuous attacks on Palestinian leaders.
This assassination marks another escalation in the ongoing conflict, with Israel extending its attacks beyond Gaza into neighboring countries, targeting key figures.
