'Israel' arrests Sheikh Sabri and teacher in Al Aqsa mosque
Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Israeli forces on Friday arrested Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, head of the Higher Islamic Commission in occupied Jerusalem, and a teacher at the Al Aqsa Mosque as they intensified presence in the old city to prevent worshipers from performing Friday prayers at the Mosque.
Israeli forces arrested Sheikh Sabri from his house in the city and arrested Hanadi Halwani, a teacher, while she was on her way to perform prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli police and security forces set up checkpoints throughout the Old City to prevent worshipers from performing prayers at the gates of the holy mosque.
Despite the Israeli restrictions, dozens of worshipers performed prayers in the Lions Gate area in the Old City.
