‘Israel’ approves ‘flag march’ through Old City in occupied Jerusalem

Occupied Palestine (QNN) – The Israeli occupation authorities have granted permission for extremist Israeli settlers to march through the Old City in occupied Jerusalem.

Haaretz Israeli newspaper reported that the Israeli Minister of Public Security, Omer Bar-Lev, granted final approval to the so-called ‘flag march’ on the anniversary of the occupation of Jerusalem, which is marked on 28 May.

The newspaper added that the approved route of the march includes passing through the Bab al-Amud area, the Old City, and the Buraq Wall.

It indicated that the decision was made after consultations with the police.

Each year, thousands of extremist Israeli settlers celebrate the occupation of Jerusalem through taking part in the flag march, waving Israeli flags, singing songs, and chanting anti-Palestinian slogans.

Bentzi Gopstein, leader of the radical, anti-Palestinian “Lahava” group, called upon extremist settlers to take part in the march, scheduled next Sunday, and to break into the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and demolish the Dome of the Rock.
