‘Israel’ approves bill to ban raising Palestinian flag in universities
Occupied Palestine (QNN) – The so-called Israeli Ministerial Committee for the Legislation of Laws on Sunday approved a bill that would prohibit raising the Palestinian flag at universities or public institutions.
The approval of the bill comes after the repeated raising of the flag of Palestine by Palestinian students inside Israeli universities.
According to the Hebrew Channel 7, the bill will be submitted to the Knesset plenary for a preliminary reading by the right-wing Likud MK Eli Cohen.
According to Cohen, “the hypocrisy and the incitement from some Arab Israelis must stop. They want to enjoy the budget of the State of Israel and at the same time defy the State of Israel and harm its sovereignty.”
“Whoever sees themselves as Palestinian will get any help they need from us for a one-way trip to Gaza,” Cohen added.
It’s noteworthy to mention that universities will not be the only institutions affected by the bill. It would rather target any institutions, funded by the Israeli government, such as cultural institutions, that choose to raise the Palestinian flag.
