“Senior officials in my Department met the Israeli Ambassador today to underline Ireland’s serious concerns at the expansion of settlements in this strategically sensitive area between Jerusalem and Bethlehem,” said Coveney.
He also added that settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territory is clearly illegal under international law and called on the occupation state to reverse this decision and to halt all settlement construction.
“Illegal new settlements in West Bank should not be ignored by Int. community. If EU is committed to protecting prospect of 2 State Solution, we should consider what options are available to deter such actions,” he tweeted.
