IOF blow up family home of slain Omar Abu Laila

(QNN) – The Israeli occupation authorities blew up the house of the Palestinian martyr Omar Abu Laila in Salfit city today Wednesday.

According to local sources, dozens of Israeli forces raided the town of al-Zawiya in Salfit city last night and booby-trapped Abu Laila’s two-floor family house.

The Israeli occupation occupation forces spread aroud the house and evacuated the surrounding buildings before they announced the area a “closed military zone”.

Local souces told Quds News Network that Israeli soldiers climbed on the roofs of the surrounding houses, assaulted Palestinian journalists and activists who were present to document the event, and threw pepper gas towards them.

A Palestinian journalist was injured and another Palestinian activist was detained.

Clashes erupted between the IOF and Palestinian young men who were present at the town’s street in protest to demolishing Abu Laila’s house. The protesters were targeted by tear-gas and sound bombs.

Omar Abu Laila (19) was assassinated by Israeli special forces on March 19, 2019 in Ramallah. Abu Laila had been wanted for allegedly killing two Israelis (a soldier and a rabbi) near the illegal Jewish settlement of Ariel in the West Bank.

Abu Laila’s body has been held by the Israeli occupation authorities since then.
