Internet Restored in Gaza After Three-Day Israeli Blackout

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Internet has been restored in the Gaza Strip after a three-day blackout caused by Israeli forces after they struck the territory’s last remaining fiber optic cable on Thursday, a move seen as an effort to further isolate Gaza and hinder news coverage of Israeli attacks.

The head of the Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Laith Daraghmeh said on Saturday, “The network is up now in all of the Gaza Strip”.

The internet and fixed-line communications were down as Israeli forces on Thursday bombed Gaza’s last remaining fibre optic cable. Israel had prevented the repairs of internet supply lines and telecommunication.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) condemned Israel’s internet and telecommunications blackout in Gaza, describing it as a deliberate attempt to further isolate the Strip and obstruct media coverage of ongoing military attacks.

The move had left Palestinians in Gaza in an information blackout and unable to reach loved ones.

“But why did Israel bomb the main internet fiber route? Why is Israel insisting on isolating Gaza from the world? So we are now deprived from food, water, electricity, and internet,” wrote Gaza-based journalist Hind Khoudary.
