Interior Ministry warns of Israeli impersonation scams posing as relief organizations
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning about fraudulent phone calls from Israeli intelligence agents posing as representatives of local and international relief organizations. These calls are reportedly being used to extract personal information from Palestinians under the guise of offering aid or financial assistance.
In a press release, the Ministry emphasized that legitimate relief organizations only gather information through in-person meetings at their official locations, never through phone calls. The Ministry urged the public to refrain from providing any personal details over the phone, even if the callers claim to represent well-known organizations or government entities.
Investigations have revealed that the Israeli army has used these scams to target Palestinian homes, leading to deadly airstrikes. Several attacks in recent months have been traced back to information provided by victims during these fraudulent phone calls.
The Ministry highlighted a specific case involving a Palestinian woman, identified as (H.M.), who received a call from an individual claiming to be from the Red Crescent. She was asked to provide the names and details of residents in her building in Gaza City. Unaware of the scam, she shared information about her family members, one of whom was involved in the resistance. A week later, an Israeli airstrike destroyed her building, killing several members of her family.
