Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Dozens of peaceful protesters were reportedly suffocated in an Israeli repression of a peaceful protest in wadi Hummus in eastern Jerusalem, in which hundreds of Palestinians were displaced last week in an Israeli mass demolition operation.

Hundreds of Palestinians performed Friday prayer amid the rubble of their houses near the apartheid wall, which separates Wadi Hummus from other neighborhoods of Sur Baher.

Local sources said that Israeli forces showered the protesters with tear gas immediately after Friday prayer, causing dozens of suffocation cases. Meanwhile, photojournalist Iyad Hamad was reportedly beaten and chief of the Anti- Apartheid Wall and Settlement Committee in Bethlehem Hasan Brejiyyeh was arrested.

Locals of Wadi Hummus have been protesting for a week against the Israeli mass demolition and displacement campaign, which has been described as a demolition massacre, and which left over 1000 Palestinians homeless.
