IJ Publishes 2nd Message from Imprisoned Israeli Soldier Alexander Turbanov
Gaza (Quds News Network)— Saraya Al-Quds, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, released a new message today from Israeli prisoner Alexander Turbanov. In a brief statement, the Brigades said that Turbanov directed his message toward Israel’s Shas party.
This marks the second communication from Turbanov within the last two days. In his previous statement released on Wednesday, he revealed that he has been imprisoned by Islamic Jihad for over a year.
Prison Conditions Highlighted in Message
In today’s message, Turbanov detailed his harsh conditions in imprisonment, citing severe shortages of food, water, electricity, and basic necessities. These deprivations, he noted, have resulted in developing skin problems he did not have prior to his capture.
“Whenever you eat or drink, remember us, the prisoners, who are not afforded the same luxuries,” Turbanov urged the Israeli public. He criticized the Israeli government’s policies, adding, “When you close the border crossings to tighten the siege on Palestinians in Gaza, you are also tightening the grip on us, the prisoneras.”
Fears of Israeli Targeting
Turbanov expressed fear for his life, especially amid the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, which he believes are supposedly aimed at rescuing him. “My life has been in danger for over a year due to these military offensives. Ironically, the Islamic Jihad fighters have risked their lives on multiple occasions to protect mine,” he stated.
He addressed Israelis directly, warning that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military approach could ultimately lead to his death. “I am genuinely afraid of the army—afraid of the moment they reach me or bomb the place where I’m held. Many prisoners have already died in this war. The only way to protect us is to end this conflict,” Turbanov implored.
Critique of Israeli Government’s Practices
Turbanov further criticized the Israeli government’s diversion of focus to other fronts. “After a year of war in Gaza, the government shifted its military efforts to Lebanon, and now they’re escalating tensions with Iran. It seems like they are trying to bury us deeper underground, to forget us entirely,” he remarked, accusing the government of neglecting its prisoners.
In his concluding remarks, Turbanov urged Israelis to reignite protests against the government’s policies. “It’s time to escalate the demonstrations. I urge you to take to the streets and shut them down for some time,” he called on the Israeli public, implying that mass civil pressure may be the only way to secure his release.
