ICC Prosecutor Urges Rejection of Israel’s Appeal Over Gaza War Investigation

The Hague (Quds News Network)- The International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor, Karim Khan, has asked judges to reject Israel’s appeal regarding the court’s investigation into the Gaza genocidal war. The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported this on Tuesday.
Khan’s request followed Israel’s claim of a conflict of interest involving him. He submitted his official response late Monday to Israel’s appeal on the court’s jurisdiction. This appeal came after ICC judges issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
On May 20, Khan requested arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant. He accused them of being responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli military in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
On November 21, the ICC issued the arrest warrants. It stated there were reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The ICC also accused them of overseeing attacks on civilians. The court detailed their war crimes, including the use of starvation as a weapon of war. The crimes against humanity include murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.
