Hungarian woman linked to supply of exploding pagers in Lebanon was EU external expert

Sofia (Quds News Network)- Reports have emerged that a Hungarian woman named Cristiana Bársony-Arcidiacono is connected to the supply of explosive communication devices that recently detonated in Lebanon. Media outlet EU Observer revealed on Friday that Bársony-Arcidiacono had previously worked as a “collaborating expert” for the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) from 2021 to 2023, although the European Commission confirmed that she was not a permanent staff member.

In an interview with NBC, Bársony-Arcidiacono admitted that her Budapest-based firm, BAC Consulting, acted as an “intermediary” in the supply chain of pagers that contained mini-explosives, which were placed by Israel. The tragic explosions resulted in the deaths of 37 individuals and injured over 3,250 others in Lebanon.

Allegations have surfaced that a Bulgarian company, Norte Global, registered to a Norwegian individual, was also involved in this supply chain. Both BAC Consulting and Norte Global have been described as “letterbox companies” with no actual offices or employees beyond their executives.

Bulgaria’s intelligence agency has stated that no customs procedures indicated that the explosive devices passed through Bulgaria, while Hungarian government spokesperson Zoltán Kovács asserted that the devices were never present in Hungary.
