Human rights watchdogs reveal more details on Nizar Banat assassination
Ramallah (QNN)- The representative of the Council for Human Rights Watchdogs, Sha’wan Jabbarin, said that an initial investigation into the assassination of Nizar Banat revealed signs of severe beating throughout his body, causing ten fractures in his ribs and fluids in his lungs.
“Therefore, the case is very clear but we are waiting for the results of the full investigation that Al Haq and the Independent Committee for Human Rights are making”, Jabbarin added in a statement cited by Watan News.
“There are a lot of legal observations in relation to the arrest itself”, he added. “For example, it is illegal in the Palestinian law to break into houses at midnight.”
Jabbarin also stressed that they will cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) if the latter decides to investigate torture committed by the Palestinian Authority.
