Horrific Torture of Palestinian Hostages in Israeli Sde Teiman Prison Exposed

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Alarming new testimonies have revealed the horrific torture practices inside Israel’s military detention centre at Sde Teiman.

Palestinian lawyer Khaled Mahajneh, speaking on “Jisr” podcast, shared chilling details after visiting the facility in June 2024. Mahajneh, who works with the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, was the first lawyer allowed to enter Sde Teiman.

“What is happening in Sde Teiman defies description,” Mahajneh said. He confirmed that Israeli soldiers operate with impunity, committing widespread abuses against Palestinian hostages from Gaza.

One elderly detainee was stripped naked, raped while handcuffed by male and female soldiers, and humiliated as others watched and laughed. Meanwhile, detainees were forced to watch the horrific scene.

The detention site, Mahajneh described, is a vast open space with no proper rooms. Each detainee remains shackled inside a tiny square area, forbidden to move regardless of the weather. detainees are forced to witness brutal torture sessions.

Israeli doctors amputated detainees’ limbs without anesthesia. Shackles cut through flesh and bone after being left on for months without removal. Detainees are banned from crying, screaming, or showing any emotion.

“You are blindfolded, you smell your own blood filling the place, and other detianees, young and old, are forced to watch,” Mahajneh said.

Soldiers also regularly insult detainees and have burned copies of the Quran inside the facility.

“I have lived under Israeli rule in 1948-occupied Palestine and know Israel’s racism,” Mahajneh said. “But I never imagined seeing female soldiers participating in raping detainees.”

The lawyer detailed how soldiers used batons, guns, and fire extinguishers to sexually assault prisoners. Fire extinguisher hoses were inserted into detainees’ bodies and filled with chemicals.

Mahajneh also met 16-year-old Ismail Al-Sayfi from Gaza. The boy spent a full year in Sde Teiman, shackled and wearing the same clothes. His family did not even know he was alive. “I still remember how Ismail lit up with joy when I told him his family was safe,” Mahajneh said.

These revelations match previous reports by Israeli media.

An investigation by Haaretz included testimonies from Israeli soldiers, doctors, and workers who served at Sde Teiman. They described routine beatings, sadistic violence, and systematic dehumanization.

One soldier admitted that detainees were seen as “less than human.” Others described detainees with broken legs being forced to stand for roll call — and beaten more if they could not.

The brutality was not random. Soldiers said they were encouraged to stay silent. “What happens in Sde Teiman stays in Sde Teiman,” one soldier recalled hearing repeatedly.

Some soldiers expressed loyalty to the army’s methods, even as they witnessed acts of sadism. One admitted that soldiers would beat detainees “to take revenge” for October 7 military operation.

Leaked security footage published by Israel’s Channel 12 showed Israeli soldiers raping a Palestinian detainee inside Sde Teiman.

Despite international outrage, the Israeli army continues to operate Sde Teiman. All detainees there are civilians kidnapped from Gaza during Israel’s ongoing genocide.

Human rights groups say the abuses in Sde Teiman reveal Israel’s systematic policy of torture, dehumanization, and war crimes against Palestinians — a pattern that has intensified since the genocide began on October 7.
