Health condition of cancer-stricken detainee Abu Humaid deteriorated
Occupied Palestine (QNN) - The health condition of cancer-stricken Palestinian detainee Nasser Abu Humaid has deteriorated, Commission of Detainees’ Affairs said on Sunday.
The commission pointed out that the detainee Abu Humaid has been moved from Ramleh prison clinic to Assaf Harofeh hospital after suffering from internal hemorrhaging.
The health condition of the detainee Abu Humaid is a vivid example of the deliberate slow killing policy being practiced against the Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, said Qadri Abu Baker, head of the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs.
Abu Baker indicated that at least 15 cancer-stricken detainees in Israeli jails experience a policy of slow killing as a result of deliberate medical negligence and not receiving the appropriate treatment.
Meanwhile, the family of Abu Humaid appealed to all parties concerned to take urgent and effective action to save the life of their son.
They also called on the Palestinian people to continue their popular support to press the Israeli occupation to release him as he’s facing an imminent risk of death.
The 40-year-old detainee Abu Humaid, who is a resident of the al-Amari refugee camp, is among four other brothers who have been sentenced by the Israeli occupation for a life-term in prison.
His brothers, identified as Nasr, Nasser, Sharif, and Mohammed were detained by the Israeli occupation authorities in 2002, while his brother Islam was detained in 2018.
According to Palestinian figures, about 4,500 Palestinians, including 32 women and 160 children, are currently languishing in Israeli detention jails.
Two Palestinians, including a 14-year-old boy, were shot and killed by Israeli settlers on Tuesday in the village of Al-Mughayyir in the occupied West Bank. A total of three Palestinians have been killed so far today by Israeli settlers across the occupied territories, including two children, amid a spike in settler violence against Palestinians.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot has urged the EU to impose sanctions on Israel ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, joining seven EU countries, including France and Sweden, in the call. He also slammed the Israeli assault on Lebanon as “totally unacceptable.”
France and Sweden have co-signed a paper urging the European Union to ban imports from illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, and to consider tariffs and tighter import restrictions on such goods.
