Hamas Expresses Solidarity with Spain Following Devastating Valencia Floods

Gaza (Quds News Network)- In a statement released on Friday, senior Hamas official Dr. Bassem Naim expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the Spanish people, especially those affected in the Valencia region, following catastrophic floods that have led to widespread devastation.

“Despite the suffering and hardship we face due to the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza, we send our heartfelt messages of support and love to the friendly Spanish people, particularly in Valencia,” Naim wrote. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for a swift recovery for the injured and those affected by the natural disaster.

The death toll from the floods in Spain has reached 205, according to rescue teams on Friday. Valencia’s relief services confirmed 202 deaths in the region, with an additional three fatalities reported in the provinces of Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia. The floods, deemed the deadliest in Spain in decades, have left destruction in their wake, toppling vehicles, collapsing bridges, and cutting off vital roadways.

In response, Spanish authorities have deployed 500 additional soldiers to assist the 1,200 already engaged in search and rescue operations across the flood-stricken areas. Equipped with drones and rescue dogs, crews are navigating floodwaters and searching debris for the dozens still reported missing. Many regions remain isolated, lacking access to clean water, food, and electricity three days after the initial flooding, sparking concerns over a rising death toll.
