Hamas claims responsibility for operation targeting Israeli soldier in the Jordan Valley

Occupied West Bank (Quds News Network)- The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has claimed full responsibility for an operation that took place in the Jordan Valley on Sunday, targeting an Israeli soldier who recently returned from Gaza.

In a statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters carried out a point-blank shooting operation at noon on Sunday. The operation targeted the vehicle of 23-year-old Israeli soldier Yonatan Deutsch near the Mehola settlement in the northern Jordan Valley, resulting in his immediate death.

The statement further clarified that the operation was carried out in retaliation for the blood of Palestinian victims and in response to the “Dawn Massacre” at the Al-Tabi’een School and the ongoing massacres by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli media confirmed the death of a soldier from the “Maglan” unit after being shot near the Mehola settlement. Reports also noted that the slain soldier had recently returned from combat in Gaza just two weeks prior.

This shooting incident is part of a broader escalation of military tensions in the West Bank, coinciding with the genocidal war waged by the Israeli army against Gaza for over ten months.

In recent days, the West Bank has witnessed numerous attacks targeting Israeli soldiers and settlers. The latest attack in the Jordan Valley follows three shooting incidents near the Bekaot settlement in Tubas and dozens of attacks on settlers’ vehicles earlier this month.
