Hamas calls on mediators to implement July 2 agreement according to Biden’s vision

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Hamas has reiterated its call for mediators to take concrete steps toward implementing the agreement reached on July 2, 2024, in line with the vision outlined by US President Joe Biden.

“The movement has engaged in numerous rounds of negotiations, demonstrating all necessary flexibility and positivity to achieve the goals and interests of our people, to save lives, and to halt the genocide against them”, the movement said in a statement.

“These efforts were also aimed at opening the door for a prisoner exchange, providing humanitarian aid to our people, allowing the return of the displaced, and rebuilding what the aggression has destroyed. In this context, the movement agreed to the mediators’ proposal on May 6, 2024, welcomed President Biden’s announcement on May 31, 2024, and supported UN Security Council Resolution 2735 on the matter. However, the enemy responded with rejection and continued massacres against our people, reaffirming their lack of seriousness about a permanent ceasefire, as evidenced by their ongoing aggressive actions against our people.”

On Saturday, Israeli media revealed new demands from Benjamin Netanyahu’s government regarding a prisoner exchange deal following the announcement of the tripartite statement to resume negotiations. Military leaders have accused Netanyahu of endangering Israel’s security with his approach.

Israel’s Channel 13 reported that Netanyahu will hold a meeting on Thursday to determine the negotiating team’s powers, while Channel 12 noted that Netanyahu’s decision to resume negotiations came under U.S. pressure.
