Haaretz: Starving Gaza Does Not Achieve Any of Israel’s War Goals

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli newspaper Haaretz has sharply criticized Israel’s starvation policy in Gaza. In its lead editorial, the paper said the suffering and deaths caused by this approach do not serve any war goals. They won’t lead to the release of Israeli prisoners or to the collapse of Hamas, Haaretz wrote.

The newspaper called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza immediately. It also urged the international community to pressure Israel by all means possible.

On the ground, the situation in Gaza grows worse. Airstrikes, shelling, and naval attacks continue to hit crowded areas. Many of these targets include makeshift refugee camps, hospitals, and UN-run schools. Israel claims Hamas hides behind civilians, a claim contradicted by the fact that most of the victims are women and children.

Since March 18, at least 1,694 people have been killed in Gaza. That number includes 595 children, 308 women, and 105 elderly people.

Hospitals have collapsed. Food and medicine are nearly gone. Over two million Gazans now face death from hunger and disease. The blockade has shut the strip off from the world for more than a month.

Israel justifies the pressure, saying it will help in negotiations for the Israeli prisoners. But Hamas insists it will release them only when Israel agrees to end the genocide. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refuses.
