“Great Friend for Israel”: Leaked Emails Expose Larry Ellison’s Influence on US Politics and Israel
Washington (QNN)- Leaked emails by Drop Site reveal Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison’s long-standing support for Israel, including backing Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign and arranging fundraisers while ensuring he remained “a great friend for Israel.” Ellison has contributed millions to pro-Israel causes and leveraged his influence to shape US media and politics. His family is expanding its media reach, with son David Ellison moving into major outlets like CBS News and CNN, while Oracle takes control of TikTok in the U.S., retraining its algorithm to influence public opinion. Ellison has also pledged over $350 million to the Tony Blair Institute, which works closely with Oracle on global projects, including a vision for Gaza involving tech surveillance and corporate oversight. Ellison’s TikTok Takeover Ellison is now set to take a lead role in reshaping TikTok’s US operations. Oracle, already responsible for the app’s cloud infrastructure, will reportedly oversee the algorithm that determines what American users see, a critical lever of influence as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself has been the most forthright about the importance of Israel and its supporters taking control over the video platform. ’Weapons change over time...the most important ones are on social media,” Netanyahu told a group of pro-Israel influencers assembled at Israel’s Consulate General in New York in September, stating that the acquisition of TikTok was “the most important purchase going on right now.” As the Biden and Trump administrations alike have sought to sever TikTok’s ties with its Chinese parent company ByteDance, Ellison’s Oracle is emerging as the chosen steward. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt recently confirmed that the app’s algorithm will be “retrained and operated in the United States outside of ByteDance’s control.” This transition is deeply political. Since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, US and Israeli officials have accused TikTok of fueling youth-driven criticism of Israel. The Ellison-Blair Nexus and the “New Gaza” Ellison’s deepening relationship with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, now head of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, has created an influential vehicle for his political vision. Ellison has pledged over $350 million to the institute, which, according to investigations by New Statesman and Lighthouse Reports, operates more like a strategic arm of Oracle than an independent nonprofit. Now, that partnership is set to be a guide the future of post-war Gaza. Under a widely-condemned plan championed by President Donald Trump, Gaza would be transformed into a high-tech, free-trade zone dubbed “New Gaza.” Administration of the zone would fall to a “Board of Peace,” reportedly led by Blair, with strategic guidance from Ellison and longtime political allies, including Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. The plan, developed in coordination with the Blair Institute, envisions a heavily surveilled, corporatized Gaza, raising alarm among human rights advocates. Ellison’s past comments foreshadow the kind of regime he may help usher in. On an investor call in 2023, he declared: “We’re going to have supervision... Citizens will be on their best behavior because we are constantly recording and reporting everything that’s going on.” Media Monopoly in the Making While Larry Ellison shapes the digital infrastructure, his son David Ellison is assembling a media empire. The younger Ellison, through his company Skydance Media, is spearheading a multibillion-dollar takeover of legacy media assets, including CBS News, CNN, Warner Bros., and Paramount. Reports suggest that David Ellison is bringing in journalist and Free Press founder Bari Weiss to steer editorial direction—part of a broader shift toward consolidating pro-Israel, tech-aligned voices in mainstream media. A recent Wired report likened the Ellisons to “the Vanderbilts of attention” and “the Rockefellers of data,” signaling a generational effort to control the flow of both content and information. Rubio, Israel, and the Rise of Oracle Diplomacy The newly leaked emails highlight how Ellison’s political influence has long been in motion. In 2015, Ellison was quietly vetting then-Senator Marco Rubio as a pro-Israel presidential candidate. Emails between Ellison and Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor reveal detailed discussions about Rubio’s loyalty to Israel, leading to a dinner between Ellison and Rubio, and a subsequent introduction to Tony Blair. “Marco will be a great friend for Israel,” Ellison wrote to Prosor after the meeting. Later that year, Ellison hosted a high-profile fundraiser for Rubio and funneled $5 million into a super PAC supporting his campaign. Rubio would later become a key figure in the TikTok crackdown, now culminating in Oracle’s takeover of the platform. Today, Rubio serves as Trump’s Secretary of State, overseeing TikTok negotiations and involved in rolling out the so-called Gaza redevelopment plan, one championed by Blair and underwritten by Ellison. Culture Engineering: “Women of the IDF” Ellison isn’t alone in Oracle’s pro-Israel alignment. Other top executives, including CEO Safra Catz, have also taken active roles in shaping public opinion. In a separate set of leaked emails from former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Catz proposed creating a US reality show titled Women of the IDF. “We believe that we have to embed the love and respect for Israel in American culture,” she wrote.
