Germany, France, Italy, Spain condemn Israel’s morning raid of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- The foreign ministries of Germany, France, Italy and Spain condemned Israel’s assault against Palestinians after storming the Al-Aqsa mosque earlier on Friday.

“We call on all sides to exercise maximum restraint as well as to refrain from violence and from all forms of provocation,” spokespersons for the ministries said in a joint statement issued today.

Earlier today, the Israeli occupation forces broke into the al-Aqsa Mosque and brutally attacked the worshipers who gathered to perform the Al-Fajr prayer.

The Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed that at least 153 Palestinian worshipers were injured during the Israeli forces’ morning assault.

The forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters directly and intensively at the worshipers. They also severely beat them, including children, women, journalists and youths.

The forces also arrested about 400 Palestinians from the courtyards of the mosque since the morning assault, according to local sources.

After nearly a 6-hour assault against the Palestinians, the Palestinians succeeded in reaching the holy site again and performing the Friday prayer.

Thousands of Palestinian youths stayed at Al-Aqsa mosque overnight amid calls by extremist Jewish groups to enter the compound on Friday to perform a Passover sacrifice, in violation of the status quo agreements on religious practice at the site.
