George Galloway hits back at ‘little’ Rishi Sunak after PM dubs win ‘alarming’
London (Quds News Network) – In the aftermath of the chaotic Rochdale by-election, George Galloway, the newly elected Workers Party MP, fired back at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, dismissing his criticisms and asserting that Sunak should not be perceived as an authoritative figure.
The controversial victory of Galloway, who secured 12,335 votes in the by-election, prompted strong reactions from the political establishment. Prime Minister Sunak, in a speech outside No. 10 Downing Street, expressed alarm over Galloway’s win and criticized him for allegedly supporting Hezbollah.
Galloway, known for his outspoken and often polarizing views, did not shy away from responding to Sunak’s remarks. In an interview with Sky News, he remarked, “You talk as if this is God. We’re talking about little Rishi Sunak, in the fag end of his prime ministership. Don’t talk to me as if he’s come down from the Mount with tablets of stone.”
The exchange continued the next day when Galloway’s deputy, Chris Williamson, refused to condemn the Hamas-led Al-Aqsa Flood Operation that took place on October 7 in the south of Israeli-occupied Palestine. Williamson argued that the oppressed situation in the region for the past 75 years warranted a reaction.
Prime Minister Sunak, in response to the escalating tension, delivered a speech condemning the protests associated with the by-election, stating that they had “descended into intimidation, threats, and planned acts of violence.” He expressed concern that democracy was being targeted by extremists and pledged support for the police to take action. Additionally, Sunak announced a fresh crackdown on extremism in the UK.
