Gaza Resistance Ambushes Israeli Forces in Beit Hanoun: This Is What We Know So Far

Gaza (Quds News Network)- On the 641st day of Israel’s war on Gaza, the Palestinian resistance carried out a highly coordinated ambush in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza. The attack inflicted heavy casualties on Israeli forces and led to one of the most severe military setbacks since the genocide began.

According to Israeli media, the ambush unfolded in four deadly stages:

1. A roadside bomb hit an Israeli tank.

2. A rescue team arrived, and was struck by a second explosive.

3. Another rescue unit came to aid the second, and was also hit.

4. A fourth explosive and intense gunfire followed, targeting all wounded soldiers.

Reports revealed that resistance fighters targeted a military robot loaded with ammunition during setup, causing further chaos among Israeli ranks.

Israeli reports confirmed the deaths of at least 5 soldiers, with 16 more wounded, some in critical condition. Israel is known for underreporting its military death tolls.

Several soldiers were burned alive inside their vehicles. Rescue operations failed under heavy resistance fire.

Israeli media described Israeli fire bets in the area and reported complete chaos amid reports about missing soldiers. One outlet called the ambush a “disgrace” for the Israeli army, comparing it to the deadly Khan Younis operation earlier this year.

The Israeli military imposed the strictest censorship since the genocide began, according to Israeli Hadshot Lo Tzanzura. The operation took place in the far north of Beit Hanoun, near the Israeli border, a zone Israel had repeatedly declared “cleared.”

The targeted unit belonged to the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, which recently took over operations in northern Gaza. Artillery strikes followed the ambush, hitting the town of Jabalia.

Hospitals in Ashdod, Be’er Sheva, Petah Tikva, Ramat Gan, and Jerusalem activated emergency protocols. Military helicopters airlifted the wounded, while burn units and trauma wards were opened across the country.

Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility. In a Telegram post, the resistance movement said:

“The funerals of your soldiers will be a regular event as long as the aggression continues.”
“We will crush the myth of your army’s invincibility.”

Israeli outlets said Netanyahu cut short a meeting with the US envoy Steve Witkoff after receiving an urgent security briefing.

Today’s event marks one of the most complex resistance operations since October 7, combining explosive traps, real-time targeting, and layered ambush tactics.

The Israeli military continues efforts to recover casualties under intense crossfire. Drones and warplanes now hover over Beit Hanoun and nearby areas as Israel scrambles to respond.

This isn’t the first ambush of its kind, as the resistance has regularly published similar operations. But the Beit Hanoun attack stands out as one of the most complex, with layered explosives and gunfire targeting multiple rescue teams in a zone Israel claimed was “cleared.”

Meanwhile, political momentum toward a ceasefire deal continues, with US pressure and Qatari mediation gaining traction.

Political analyst Iyad Al-Qarra commented on the Beit Hanoun ambush, saying:

“The Beit Hanoun operation was not a passing incident. It sent a strategic message:

The battlefield is far from decided.

The resistance still holds surprises.

And the occupation faces a deep military and political crisis.”
