Gaza Municipality: Israel causes animals to die of hunger in the zoo
Gaza (Quds News Network) – The Municipality of Gaza City revealed today that Israeli forces prevented its workers from caring for animals in a city zoo, leading to their death from starvation. In distressing images, the bodies of the animals can be seen.
According to the statement published by the municipality, Israel “destroyed the zoo in the Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza, causing the animals to die of hunger after preventing municipal teams from accessing the zoo.”
It also stated that Israel prohibited the transfer of food earmarked for the animals. The municipality added that two of its employees were injured in an Israeli attack at the beginning of the war.
The zoo, located in the Zaytoun neighborhood, covers an area of four dunams and houses a hundred animals, including lions, monkeys, wolves, and various birds.
Following the damage to the facility, the municipality called on environmental organizations to intervene, prevent further Israeli attacks, and restore protection for the zoo animals.
