Gaza Journalist Salih Al-Jaafrawi Killed by Israeli-Backed Armed Group in Southern Gaza
Gaza (QNN)- Journalist Salih Al-Jaafrawi was shot dead on Sunday by Israeli-backed armed militia in southern Gaza.
Al-Jaafrawi came under fire while covering destruction in the Sabra neighborhood. Social media users shared images showing him moments after the attack, claiming he was kidnapped and murdered by the ISIS-affiliated armed men.
Armed men targeted several young men in Sabra, including Al-Jaafrawi, who was hit by seven bullets.
A senior Gaza Interior Ministry official told Al-Jazeera that clashes erupted in the city with an “armed militia linked to the occupation,” leaving several dead and wounded.
Security sources later confirmed that Gaza’s authorities regained full control over the armed group and launched a thorough sweep of the area. Several suspects accused of executing displaced civilians and cooperating with Israel were killed during the clashes.
Video clips circulated on social media showed armed confrontations between security forces and the militia in Sabra.
Al-Jaafrawi was a leading media figure during Israel’s two-year genocide in Gaza. Through his Instagram account, he documented war crimes and civilian suffering.
Due to his coverage of the blockade and attacks, Israel placed Al-Jaafrawi on a “red list” for targeting, similar to other journalists like Al-Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif.
According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Thursday, the army said the death toll of around 71,000 killed in Gaza is largely correct, adding that it did not include those missing and buried under the rubble.
