Gaza Government Comments on Israel’s Attack on UN Workers, as UN Confirms 280 Staff Killed

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Government Media Office in Gaza has strongly condemned Israel’s attack on a United Nations facility in central Gaza. The airstrike on Wednesday killed a foreign aid worker and critically injured five others. Officials described the attack as a war crime and tated that Israel is deliberately targeting humanitarian missions to disrupt relief efforts.
The situation for humanitarian workers in Gaza continues to deteriorate. Farhan Haq, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, confirmed that 280 UN employees have been killed in Gaza since Israel’s genocide started on October 7, 2023. He also reported that thousands of civilians have been displaced due to new Israeli evacuation orders.
In an official statement, the Gaza government held Israel fully responsible for the attack, calling it a blatant violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions. The statement also criticized the international community for its silence, saying that the lack of action only encourages further violations.
The government called on the United Nations to take a clear and strong stance against the attack. It demanded an independent international investigation into Israel’s repeated assaults on humanitarian workers and urged immediate measures to protect aid missions in Gaza. Officials warned that targeting humanitarian staff is part of a systematic effort to block relief efforts and impose starvation on the Palestinian people.
This attack follows another Israeli strike on Saturday in Beit Lahia, which killed eight aid workers and a civilian. The Gaza government stated that these repeated assaults prove Israel’s intention to escalate its aggression and worsen the humanitarian crisis.
Since early Tuesday, Israel has intensified airstrikes across Gaza, killing and injuring hundreds. Despite a ceasefire agreement brokered in January, Israeli forces have resumed attacks, further deepening the suffering of civilians. The Gaza government stressed that the world is now facing a critical test. It urged international institutions to act immediately and hold Israel accountable for its ongoing crimes.
