Gaza Faces Deepening Humanitarian Crisis as Israel Blocks Crossings for 13th Day – 90% Without Water
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Government Media Office has warned of worsening conditions in Gaza as Israel continues to block all border crossings for the 13th consecutive day. The blockade has left 90% of the population without access to clean water, creating a severe humanitarian crisis.
In a statement on Friday, the office said the closure has doubled the suffering of 150,000 Palestinians with chronic illnesses and injuries.
The water crisis is critical. Israel’s ban on fuel has shut down wells and desalination plants, leaving nearly all residents without clean drinking water. The situation is worsening by the hour.
The fuel crisis has also forced 25% of Gaza’s bakeries to stop operating, deepening food insecurity. Around 80% of Palestinians in Gaza have lost their main sources of food as charity kitchens and aid distributions have stopped. The office warned that famine could return if the siege continues.
“The situation paints a grim picture for over 2.4 million people besieged in Gaza,” the statement read. “Israel has tightened the siege, cutting off all essentials and turning Gaza into a massive prison.”
The crisis is escalating rapidly. The media office warned that the coming hours will bring further deterioration in living, health, and environmental conditions. Hunger is rising, and basic services are collapsing.
Israel’s leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, bear full responsibility for this worsening humanitarian disaster, the office stated.
It urged Arab and Islamic nations to break the siege, push for the opening of the Rafah crossing, and ensure vital supplies reach Gaza. The office also called on the international community to take action against Israel’s blockade, hold war criminals accountable, and prevent them from escaping justice.
