Gaza Death Toll Reaches 50,886 as Israeli Bombardment Intensifies

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israel’s ongoing bombardment of Gaza has killed 40 Palestinians and wounded 146 in the past 24 hours, as Israeli ground and aerial forces have continued their relentless attacks on the besieged enclave since resuming the genocide on March 18.
Since resuming the assault, Israeli attacks have claimed 1,522 lives and left 3,834 injured. The overall death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza has now surged to 50,886, with 115,875 wounded since 7 October 2023, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The death toll is expected to rise as many remain trapped under the rubble. The majority of the victims are women and children.
Yesterday, Israeli jets struck a block of homes in Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighbourhood, killing over 35 people and leaving dozens more wounded and trapped under the rubble. This marks one of the deadliest attacks in recent days, targeting multiple adjacent homes in the war-torn area.
On March 18, Israel renewed its assault on the Gaza Strip and launched a new ground invasion across the enclave, marking the collapse of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal that had been in place since January 19, 2025. The first phase ended on March 1, 2025, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to proceed with the second phase.
Netanyahu, wanted by the International Criminal Court, sought to free more Israeli prisoners without fulfilling Israel’s commitments, including ending the war and withdrawing from Gaza. Hamas insisted on implementing the full agreement.
