Gag Order Issued After Israeli Minister’s Daughter Accuses Family of Sexual Assault

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Israeli media reported that a gag order has been issued in a high-profile rape case involving Israel’s Minister of Settlements, Orit Strook.
Shoshana Strook, daughter of Israel’s Minister of Settlements Orit Strook, filed a police complaint in Italy. She accused her parents and one brother of sexually assaulting her. The court has restricted the publication of suspect names and investigation details at the request of those involved.

Shoshana also revealed in her complaint that she witnessed the abuse of three younger brothers. “After years of beatings and guilt, I finally spoke out,” she wrote. “The memories are overwhelming, but I need justice.”
The family has a history of violence. In 2007, Shoshana’s brother, Zviki Strook, was convicted of kidnapping and torturing a 15-year-old Palestinian boy. He beat and stripped the boy and left him tied in a field. Zviki also kicked a newborn goat to death during the attack. He was sentenced to 2.5 years but released nine months early.
Minister Orit Strook is known for her support of Israeli settlements and hardline views. She has repeated government claims accusing Hamas of sexual violence during the October 7 military operation. These claims have been used to justify Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Now, Strook herself faces accusations that she raped her daughter.
Sexual violence cases in Israel often go unpunished. A report by The Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel (ARCCI) said that 81% of such complaints in 2023 ended without indictment. Out of 6,405 cases opened by police, only 663 led to charges.
Israel’s rape culture has been also harming native Palestinians across historic Palestine. The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said in a recent report that Israel is using sexual and gender-based violence against Palestinians. It stated that Israeli forces and settlers use rape, reproductive violence, and attacks on health care facilities in Gaza. The report described these acts as “more than a human can bear.”
The UN Commission said these acts aim to dominate and destroy the Palestinian population. It noted that both men and women have been victims, online and in person, across the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
