Freedom Flotilla Coalition Attorneys: Israeli Attack is an Act of War Against State Sovereignty, Humanity, and Law

Istanbul (Quds News Network)- Attorneys representing the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) have condemned the recent Israeli attack on their humanitarian vessel off the coast of Malta as an act of war against state sovereignty, humanity, and international law. They assert that this bombing is not merely an assault on a civilian ship but a significant escalation of Israeli aggression that threatens the entire international community.

The FFC reported that at 00:23 Maltese time, their ship, the Conscience, was targeted by armed drones in international waters. The drones struck the unarmed vessel twice, causing a fire and substantial damage to the hull. The attorneys argue that this attack was executed without prior notification to the Maltese government, highlighting a blatant disregard for international norms.

In a statement by the attorneys, they stated that the assault serves as a warning to nations planning to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, with the FFC stating that any such attempts will be treated as military threats by Israel. The coalition called for immediate action from the global community, demanding safe harbor for the Conscience, public condemnation of the attack, and the mobilization of humanitarian convoys to Gaza.

The attorneys emphasized that failure to respond to this act of aggression will undermine international law and enable further violations of human rights. They urged all states and institutions to confront Israeli actions and support the continuation of the Freedom Flotilla’s mission to provide essential aid to those in need.

Israel has been besieging Gaza for over two months now, blocking food, water, medication, and fuel from entry. Meanwhile, it has been brutally bombarding over 2 million people in the besieged enclave in an ongoing genocide that has started over 18 months ago. Despite an ICJ ruling that ordered Israel to halt all acts of genocide, the occupation state continues to starve over 2 million people, killing dozens from hunger.
