France strongly condemns Israeli approval of new settlements units in West Bank

Paris (Quds News Network) – France has expressed its strong condemnation of the recent decision by the Israeli occupation authorities okaying plans for nearly 3,500 new housing units intended for Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

In an official press statement, the French Foreign Ministry declared, “We call on the Israeli government to immediately reverse this decision, which is unacceptable, illegal, and irresponsible given the extremely high tensions that already exist on the West Bank and the approach of sensitive religious holidays.”

The statement further emphasized that Israeli settlements in Palestinian Territories, leading to evictions and the demolition of Palestinian structures in Area C and East Jerusalem, represent a blatant violation of international law and must come to an immediate halt. Additionally, the statement pointed out that settlements, deemed illegal under Israeli law, should be dismantled without delay.

France strongly criticized “all unilateral measures that undermine prospects for a two-State solution, which is the only way to ensure Israel’s right to security and the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians.”

The French foreign ministry concluded with a commitment to action: “That is why we have adopted sanctions against the extremist Israeli settlers who are to blame for acts of violence against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank.”
