France Investigates French-Israelis for Possible Role in Gaza Genocide

Paris (Quds News Network)- French prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation into French-Israeli settlers accused of helping block humanitarian aid to Gaza, reported Politico. Authorities are examining whether their actions amount to complicity in genocide and crimes against humanity.

The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the investigation on Friday. It said the probe began after two NGOs filed formal complaints in November 2024. The offenses took place between January and May 2024 in Israel, Egypt, and Gaza.

French law allows authorities to investigate crimes against humanity or genocide if suspects are habitually based in France, even if the acts occurred abroad.

The prosecutors did not name specific suspects. However, French media reported that two groups are under scrutiny: Israël is Forever, a French-speaking Zionist organization, and Tzav 9, a notorious Israeli group.

Tzav 9 gained global attention in early 2024 after physically blocking aid trucks destined for Gaza. Both the European Union and the United States imposed sanctions on the group. However, the US Treasury lifted those sanctions on the day President Donald Trump returned to office in January.

A spokesperson for Tzav 9 dismissed the French investigation as “a joke” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “I’m being targeted because I campaign to prevent aid from reaching a terrorist organization like Hamas,” she wrote.

One of the NGOs behind the legal complaint is the French Jewish Union for Peace. A spokesperson from the group said they also plan to push for prosecutions of French-Israeli soldiers involved in the Gaza genocide.

The French investigation comes amid global criticism of Israel’s genocide and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israel’s airstrikes and blockade have severely restricted access to food, water, and medical aid for the enclave’s 2.3 million residents.

International rights groups and some legal experts accuse Israel of committing war crimes — and possibly genocide.

The Ministry of Health reports more than 54,000 people killed since the start of the genocide. A Lancet study published in January estimated the true death toll had already surpassed 64,000, with most victims being women, children, and the elderly.
