London (Quds News Network)- Former zionist British Labour MP Ivor Caplin, known for his strong ties to Israel, was arrested following a citizen-led sting operation. The group, Stop Stings, revealed that Caplin attempted to meet someone he believed to be a 15-year-old boy. The confrontation was live-streamed on social media, showing Caplin denying any wrongdoing. Sussex Police confirmed the arrest of a 66-year-old man on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child. Caplin remains in custody as the investigation continues. Caplin’s political career includes serving as the Member of Parliament for Hove from 1997 to 2005. During this time, he held positions as Assistant Government Whip and later as a junior defense minister and Minister for Veterans at the Ministry of Defense. Beyond his parliamentary roles, Caplin was actively involved with the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM), serving as its chair from 2018 to 2019. The JLM is closely linked to the Israeli embassy and plays a significant role in fostering UK-Israel relations. In September 2024, after nearly a year of Israeli genocide in Gaza, Caplin publicly criticized the UK government’s decision to suspend 30 arms export licenses to Israel. He stated, “It’s not what we normally do to those who are allies, and Israel is a very important ally.” Caplin’s arrest has drawn significant attention, especially given his recent public condemnation of Elon Musk’s remarks about UK Labour leader Keir Starmer. Just days before his arrest, Caplin labeled Musk’s comments as “unacceptable.” In June 2024, Caplin was suspended from the Labour Party over undisclosed “serious allegations”, which he denied. The nature of these allegations was not made public at the time.
