Ramallah (QNN)- The former prisoner Nuriddin Sarsour told QNN about having coronavirus inside Israeli jails before discovering that after his release.
Sarsour said that he was arrested last March and interrogated during the period between March 18-24 in several interrogation centers until he was sent to Ofer military jail while others, who were arrested with him, were released.
“I was summoned by the Shin Bet before being interrogated for six days, during which they tested me three times on the 17th, 24th, and 28th of the month. They didn’t tell me about the tests’ results”, he said.
“On March 31st, I was released with a fine of 1000 NIS”, he added.
“I want out to the main square in Ramallah and I was greeted by my family and friends before finding out that I had the coronavirus, which shocked me, especially that I had already met quite a number of people.”
Sarsour believes he was probably infected while he was at one of the interrogation centers as they lack sanitation and health measures. He added that the jailers only were putting masks and gloves and that he met over 40 prisoners, nine of them were with him in the same cell.
He stressed that the condition inside Israeli jails is very harsh and that the PLO and the factions have to do something to save their lives.
Sarsour added that his condition is good and that he is quarantined at the Carmel Hotel in Ramallah.
“I didn’t expect that I was infected. It was a shock!”, he said.
Sarsour also stressed that it is 90 per cent more likely that he was infected with the virus from one of the interrogators as they did not take any precautionary measures to protect the prisoners.
