Former Israeli envoy to UN regrets tweet which urged Biden to call Netanyahu
On Wednesday, Former Israeli envoy to the UN, Danny Danon, urged US President Joe Biden to call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Danon wrote on Twitter that Biden had called world leaders from different countries, including Canada, the UK, France, India, Germany and Japan.
“Might it now be time to call the leader of Israel, the closest ally of the US? The PM’s number is: 972-2-6705555,” Danon added.

However, on Thursday, Danon said that he regrets the formulating of the tweet, but also said he stands behind the message.
He also denied the tweet was coordinated with Netanyahu.
“I didn’t formulate the tweet, but I take responsibility for it,” Danon said, as Israeli media reported.
“The choice of words was not successful but I stand behind the message.”
“The tweet was not coordinated with the prime minister or his adversaries,” Danon said
Danon’s tweet gained some attention from diplomats, reporters and other public figures.
Opher Aviran, Israel’s former consul general to the southeastern US, wrote to Danon: “You are an embarrassment to us in Israel. You have no clue what diplomacy is all about.”
