Former Hillel contractor distributes “I love Hamas” stickers in UBC

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- A contractor, formerly associated with the Zionist Hillel BC group, has been found to have distributed “I love Hamas” stickers on campus, according to a social media post on Instagram by the organization.

The pro-Israeli organization posted that the contractor distributed “offensive” stickers on campus. It added that it terminated its relationship with the contractor without providing further details about the identity of the contractor or even mentioning the content of the stickers.

However, The Ubyssey quoted UBC as saying that the university was made aware an independent contractor “that has worked with Hillel BC” distributed the stickers and that “the stickers have exposed UBC Social Justice Centre members to vitriol and malice, which is unacceptable.”

Pro-Israel individuals had complained that stickers that read “I love Hamas” alongside the UBC Social Justice Centre’s (SJC) name and logo were distributed on campus last week.

The SJC denied their involvement with the stickers and wrote over the weekend that the organization is “concerned the campaign will fuel an already incendiary environment and jeopardize student safety.”

SJC said that the accusations by Hillel caused “repetitional harm and extreme emotional stress” for SJC members.

“Muslim, migrant, and POC students have been subjected to threats of deportation and violence as a result of these stickers,” the Centre added.

The Centre also urged the university to investigate the connection between Hillel and the contractor.
