Former Congress veterans call on Biden to pressure Netanyahu to change military strategy

Washington DC (QNN) – A group of former U.S. Congress veterans has urged President Joe Biden to leverage all U.S. influence to press Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into altering the military strategy causing the deaths of thousands of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

In an open letter to Biden, six lawmakers, all Democrats, expressed that the increasing civilian casualties and humanitarian crisis are unacceptable and contrary to U.S. interests, adding that they do not contribute to the security of their ally, Israel.

The representatives, including Bronze Star recipient Jason Crow, former Navy pilot Miki Sherrill, former Air Force officer Chrissy Houlahan, former Marine infantryman Seth Moulton, and former CIA officers Elissa Slotkin and Abigail Spanberger, emphasized the inability “to destroy terrorist ideologies” through military force alone, drawing from their personal and often painful experiences in America’s war on terror.

The letter sheds light on the pressure exerted by Biden’s party members in congressional committees on armed forces, intelligence, and foreign affairs to restrain Netanyahu and halt his air and ground war on Gaza.

Since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza last October, the Biden administration has provided the strongest military and diplomatic support.

It utilized its veto power in the UN Security Council to prevent a resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire.

For the 74th consecutive day, the occupying army continues its destructive war on Gaza, resulting in 19,453 victims and 52,286 injured, mostly children and women.

The aggression has also caused massive infrastructure destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to Palestinian and international sources.
