“For fear it could be used to prosecute them:” Israel prevents US investigators from obtaining testimonies from Israeli soldiers

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- Israel reportedly prevented American investigators from obtaining any testimonies or evidence from Israeli soldiers and officers who were active on October 7 for fear that it could be used to prosecute them in American and international courts.

In Israel, Unit 433 cooperated with American investigators and allowed them to collect testimonies directly from witnesses who experienced the October 7 operation. However, it was decided not to transfer testimonies collected from about 700 soldiers for fear that it might be used against them in American and international courts, according to a report published on Thursday by Israeli Kan 11.

These testimonies were gathered as part of the cooperation between Israel and the United States, which led to the alleged indictments filed in the U.S. against senior Hamas figures.

These soldier testimonies were gathered as part of the national investigation, the report said, but due to concerns that the materials and testimonies of the soldiers could be used to prosecute them in the United States and also at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, their testimonies were not handed over.
